Verse of the Day (01/27/12)

What Do You Think? What Do You Believe? Dear Friends, How many times have you heard the statement "it doesn't matter what you believe as long as you are sincere?" I have heard this statement made by people who otherwise seem rational and sensible. But how ridiculous! For instance, a person can believe pure sulfuric acid is water but when it is consumed, it has a rather devasting effect! Folks....it doesn't matter what we think or what we desire to be real. Reality is only determined by the one who created reality and defined it for us. Therefore, what matters for us is only determined by the creator. This creator is God Almighty, the One and Only True God, the creator of the universe and everything in it.
Reality is found in God's official operating manual...The Holy Bible. It is the only authority. It is the only authority embraced by more people over thousands of years than any other purported one. The fact is that more opinions held contrary to the Word of God are based upon no authority at all. This conflict stems from what man desires God to be and not what God is. Man has made gods for himself from any thing imaginable. God says do not do this! He says that He is a jealous God and we are to have no other god. In spite of this declaration by our creator, some say that it doesn't matter....that belief in Buddha, Allah, The Occult, Jesus Christ, or any other is fine so long as we are sincere. However, Jesus Christ is the only avenue to the one and Only True God. There is no other way! I did not say it. God said it! I am merely a witness to this fact. Can I prove it? No, but can you prove otherwise? Besides, the Holy Spirit has been sent into the world to convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment–(Read John 16:7-15) He will lead you into all truth and testify to the reality, that is Christ Jesus. (Read in the Bible Exodus 20:3-6) God has set down the rules and created us with the luxury to freely choose to embrace Him, to become His child, to become His heir with all that He promises. (We are His creation but we are not His child until we personally choose to be so!) We can choose not to accept Him as the One and Only but then must bear the consequences of that decision. We all, individually have a choice to make. There is no middle ground or neutral ground. I am confident in my decision. I am comfortable with my faith in Jesus Christ. Are you comfortable with your choice?
Steps To Spiritual Life... God loves you and wants you to have everlasting Life! This is His gift to you. Take your Bible and read these messages from God for yourself: John 3:16 and Romans 5:8.
You are sinful and your Sin Separates you from God. The Bible says that all have sinned and have fallen short of God's glory. He has expectations of us. "All have sinned" includes the hardened criminal, the rebellious teen-ager, the Pope, Billy Graham, me...you. Sin is action and attitudes that are contrary to GOD'S desires for us. These can involve individual acts or totallifestlyle. Common sense should lead us to understand that when we act in such a way that turns someone else off, that we would not find ourselves in a favorable position with that person. Only in Jesus Christ can forgiveness and Salvation be yours. Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth and the life, no man comes to the Father but by me." God loved us so much that He sent His Son Jesus Christ to die on the cross to provide us a way of salvation. Read John 14:6, 3:16-18, 8:31, and 1 Timothy 2:5. Right now you may be thinking "I already believe these things." Well, the Bible teaches that it is not a matter of just believing, for the devils also believe and tremble. (Read James 2:19.) Simply believing that Adolf Hitler lived and died does not make you a Nazi, and believing that Jesus Christ lived and died does not make you a Christian! You must act upon what you believe!
Receive Spiritual Life! You must receive Jesus Christ as both Savior and Lord. It is not enough to agree that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that He died on the cross for your sins. You must receive Him as your personal Savior and Lord. No one can do this for you. You must take these steps personally. How Do You Receive Him? Simply ask Jesus to Save you and for Him to take Control of your life. (This action is many times called prayer for salvation.)
The Bible says that as many as received Him, to them He gave the power to become the sons of God.(Read John 1:12-13.) Then you should allow Him to take control of your life...allow Him to become the lord of your life. You may have heard the phrase, "You must ask Jesus to come into your heart." "Heart" in this case refers to that part of a person that controls them–it is the mind, the soul, the will. It is in today's terminology what might be termed as the "Central Processing Unit." This involves more than a "feel good" emotional response. It requires a total, whole person commitment! How About the Cost? Salvation is Free! It is a gift from God...it costs nothing but the acceptance of the gift. If this acceptance is a genuine response, it should involve a commitment to follow Jesus as Lord when one accepts His free salvation. One should have a desire not only to prefer Him, but to pursue Him...to want to please Him.
One more thing, to exchange one lifestyle for another sometimes implies sacrifice, giving up something. Following Jesus is like giving up a straight-jacket for a plush robe! Which would you prefer?
